Park Board Commissioner Sarah Kirby-Yung
Commissioner Sarah Kirby-Yung of the Non-Partisan Association (NPA) joins the Park Board for a first term. Commissioner Kirby-Yung is a tourism industry veteran and marketing executive who has held senior roles with Coast Hotels, Tourism Vancouver, and the Vancouver Aquarium Marine Science Centre. She believes in vibrant and connected communities and working collaboratively to achieve positive results. She holds an MBA in public relations and communications, and is committed to protecting Vancouver’s green spaces, supporting community centres, and celebrating cultures and communities.
Commissioner Kirby-Yung is known for launching the Dine Out Vancouver restaurant festival and Tickets Tonight, that has delivered millions of dollars in revenue to arts and culture producers throughout Vancouver, as well as championing the expansion of the OceanWise sustainable seafood program. A passionate advocate for vibrant and connected communities, she served as marketing chair for Vancouver’s annual Celebration of Light fireworks and co-chair of the City of Vancouver’s Creative City Task Force.
As commissioner, she will work to be a strong voice for creative uses of public space, community centre renewal, restoring strong relationships with community centres, and meaningful public consultation.
