We’re upgrading critical sewer infrastructure along sections of E 39th Ave, E 40th Ave, Prince Albert St, and St. Catherines St.
We will replace the existing St. Catherines Trunk with a larger-capacity and separated sewer system with one pipe for rainwater runoff and one pipe for sanitary sewer.
The new sewer will have a life expectancy of 100 years and will help to serve this growing neighbourhood.

Access to residences and Sir Alexander Mackenzie Elementary School will be maintained at all times.
Sidewalk access and pedestrian street crossings will be generally maintained and detoured as necessary.
Parking restrictions will be in effect to accommodate construction. Be sure to watch for No Parking signs as restrictions will change as work progresses. Restrictions will be lifted as soon as they’re no longer needed.
Some street closures will be in effect to accommodate sewer work. At these times, laneway access will be maintained.
A sewer trunk line collects waste and storm water from smaller sewer lines.
Waste and storm water collected in the larger trunk eventually flows to the Iona Island Wastewater Treatment Plant located in Richmond.
