Every year, the City of Vancouver and Park Board seek feedback on a variety of topics, including citywide strategic plans like the Zero Waste Strategy, neighbourhood plans, and operational plans like the budget.

    Grandview-Woodland Community Plan implementation

    We are proposing zoning changes to allow for new housing choices in the community. The changes would allow for rowhouses, townhouses, 4-storey apartments, and 4-storey mixed-use in specified areas.

    The Vancouver Park Board is restoring the historical stream in Volunteer and Tatlow parks.

    In 2017, we gathered feedback on initial concepts for the landscape plan and explored technical details of the project. Tell us your thoughts on the refined concept.

    Vancouver's Playbook

    We are currently in the process of engaging the public in a series that is a collaboration between Vancouver Board of Parks and Recreation, The Urbanarium Society, and the UBC School of Architecture and Landscape Architecture. It will bring together some of the world's leading thinkers on public space and urban issues to explore the way we connect, play, and explore the cities.

     False Creek South

    We're undertaking a planning process to address future land uses, affordable housing, transportation, public realm, and sustainability issues in this area. The first phase will focus on the underdeveloped sites on the community edge. A resident protection and retention plan is also underway to develop affordable housing options for False Creek South residents on City-owned land to remain in the neighbourhood in the event of future redevelopment, lease renewal, or end-of-lease issues.

     Heather Street Lands

    We have been working with the site owners, the MST partners, and Canada Lands Company to create a policy statement to guide future redevelopment of this 8.5 (21 acre) site. We've also been working to create three distinct conceptual site plans.

    The following will be focused on obtaining feedback from the public related to housing types, land uses, transportation, public amenities, building forms and heights. At the final round of open houses, the preferred concept and draft policy will be presented for public review and input.

  • Single-Use Item Reduction Strategy
    Single-Use Item Reduction Strategy

    We are developing a Single-Use Item Reduction Strategy to explore how we can reduce waste from disposable hot and cold drink cups, plastic and paper shopping bags, polystyrene foam and other take-out food containers. City staff have been consulting with stakeholders to gather feedback on proposed targets and emerging directions, which are being considered for inclusion in the draft strategy that will be presented to Council in 2018. The public is being asked to help shape the strategy through an online survey.
