Skateboard

Interim skate plaza

Under Cambie BridgeThe Vancouver Park Board is planning an interim skateboard plaza to act as a stand-in for the Downtown skateboard park (Vancouver skate plaza) which will be removed as part of the Northeast False Creek project.

We've hired a consulting team, including van der Zalm Landscape Architects, New Line Skateparks, and Daniel Yabar (Spain), to design the facility.

Project update

As part of the City’s Transportation 2040 Plan, Granville Street Bridge and Cambie Street Bridge are both anticipated to receive significant upgrades in the near future, including seismic upgrades to the structures.

It's become apparent that upgrades to the Cambie Street Bridge may begin sooner than anticipated. This could impact how long a skate plaza would serve the community at this location.

We’re working to identify a new location for Skate Plaza 1.5 in the same area.

Our skate park design workshop is postponed until early summer.

We're committed to completing the design and construction of a new interim skate plaza prior to the removal of the viaducts. Our goal is to have a final design by the end of the year.

We look forward engaging with you on the design for Skate Plaza 1.5 at a new location.
